Question by amberphilbrick@ymail.com: my friend met a girl from africa on a dating site 2 mnths ago sent her money 2 come here is this a scam? HELP!?
My friend met a girl from africa on a dating site 2 months ago now sent her money 2 come here is this a scam?? All her photos look like profesional pictures and shes drop dead gorgeous and very very clean freak supposed!! My friend he is not attractive at all which i know looks arnt everything hes a very nice guy im not trying to be mean but she is way way way out of his league plus he lives with his parents in a run down cluttered house also with his other brothers, she comes from west africa and they are most notorious for these scams ive read alot on it and ive found 30 things that go along with this situation on these scams plus some of her pics looked photoshopped like one she was supposed with her mother was totaly she was put in a pic not natural my friend agreed that wasnt normal even his mom thinks the same thing i do. So he was gonna fly her over here but she said she could get a ticket there for $ 600 so he sent her the money and she supposed got a ticket! In one of the pics you cant see what the ticket(paper shes holding says but it looks photoshopped in. Then while she was at the airport the us ambassador thats in africa called my friend on her phone to say they were at the airport. That doesnt seem right. Only catch if you go to checkmyticket.com it says her flight information. Also under british airways her flight information is there! Maybe she can get a refund right before she comes. I typed in her name and it pulled up 2 scams from a cecilia willson in west africa scamming people outta money whether to get into the usa or the money! Some guy wrote i realized it was bs when i thought why would this beautiful woman wanna come be with me forever more after she just met me only thing different it was she was using different pics and her last name was spelled with 2 L’s instead of 1. But isnt it very weird that 8 people have wrote about a cecilia willson from west africa that has been a scam artist and my friend is noow expecting cecilia wilson from west africa to come on wensday to maine 2 be with him forever!, he was a little skeptical but now is telling me to stop with this crap the more i find out. Hes my best friend and im only doing this so he doesnt get hurt shes already saying there married and theyve talked for 2 months and she loves him and he sent her 600 us which is like $ 100 over there! Plus it says that they will say they are a native of us(scammers) but talk with a english accent which u cant understand which is exactly what he says she said and does he cant understand her and she talks a mile a minute! Theres so much more but i dont wanna keep blabbering does this seem like a scam or does me my hubby and his mom area all crazy? Please help!
HE SENT HER THE MONEY AND SHE BOUGHT THE TICKET WHAT I DONT KNOW ABOUT IS HOW ON CHECKMYTICKET.COM IT ASKS FOR A NUMBER AND LAST NAME WHICH HE GAVE TO ME AND IT HAS ALL HER FLIGHT INFORMATION HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE???? ALSO SHE HAS NO MONEY WHATSOEVER TO COME WITH NOT A DOLLAR SO SHE CANT EAT OR ANYTHING I ALSO READ THAT THEYLL MAKE EXCUSES LIKE THEY GOT STOPPED AND THEY WONT LET PEOPLE LEAVE THE COUNTRY UNLESS THEY ARE FINANCIALLY EQUIPPED TO. ALSO SHE CAN FIT ALL HER STUFF INTO 1 SUITCASE AND HER 20 SUMTHIN PHOTOS ALL HAVE NICE CLOTHES ON AND WHO IN THE WORLD COULD FIT ALL THERES STUFF IN 1 SUITCASE?? IF IT SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT PROBABLY IS! i WILL POST THIS WITH UPDATED INFORMATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HOW ON CHECKMYTICKET.COM IT ASKS FOR A NUMBER AND LAST NAME WHICH HE GAVE TO ME AND IT HAS ALL HER FLIGHT INFORMATION HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE??????????? Also cause the airway line has her info to could she just get her money back at the last second??

There are scam busting sites with online lists of the names scammers use, their fake job offers, their email addresses, stock copy/paste emails, paid-for-in-cash cell phone numbers, stolen pictures and fake websites they use. You could start your search and post/ask at such sites.

If you have responded to a scammer, you are on his ‘potential sucker’ list, he will try again to separate you from your cash. He will send you more emails from his other free email addresses using another of his fake names with all kinds of stories of great jobs, lottery winnings, millions in the bank and desperate, lonely, sexy singles. He will sell your email address to all his scamming buddies who will also send you dozens of fake emails all with the exact same goal, you sending them your cash via Western Union or moneygram.

Do you know how to check the header of a received email? If not, you could google for information. Being able to read the header to determine the geographic location an email originated from will help you weed out the most obvious scams and scammers. Then delete and block that scammer. Don’t bother to tell him that you know he is a scammer, it isn’t worth your effort. He has one job in life, convincing victims to send him their hard-earned cash.

Whenever suspicious or just plain curious, google everything, website addresses, names used, companies mentioned, phone numbers given, all email addresses, even partial sentences from the emails as you might be unpleasantly surprised at what you find already posted online. You can also post/ask here and every scam-warner-anti-fraud-busting site you can find before taking a chance and losing money to a scammer.
