With the epic parties Hugh Heffner is famous for hosting, who is more qualified to compile a list of the country’s hardest-partying universities than Playboy?
The magazine released its 2013 ranking of America’s top ten party-loving universities yesterday, and West Virginia claimed the number one spot for the first time.
The popular list, which has been a Playboy tradition for eight years, is published in the October issue of the magazine – which men read for its ‘great articles’.
Universities were rated based on data from the National Center for Education Statistics, the NCAA, the U.S. Economic Census and ‘feedback from Playboy’s more than 12 million social media fans’.

The University of Wisconsin ranked at number two due to its three-day Halloween festivities and penchant for tailgating, with the marijuana-loving University of Colorado coming in at a respectable third place.

The University of Southern California was rated fourth, due to its ‘Fratty Fridays’, which is described as an ‘all-out, all-day affair attended by women who look like models’, while Florida State University came halfway down the chart for its ‘bikinis, beaches and students as hot as the weather’.
Rounding out the top ten were the University of Texas, Louisiana State University, the University of Georgia, which offers ‘robust tailgating, a crowded bar scene, first-rate live music and a campus that’s 60 per cent female’, Arizona State University and the University of Maryland.
Last year’s winner, the University of Virginia, failed to even make the top ten.
In August, The Princeton Review released its own list of hardest-partying schools and matched only the top two on Playboy’s list.
Their top five, which was determined by 126,000 students, was the University of California, the University of Illinois, West Virginia University and Syracuse University.

Their rankings were based on surveys in which an average of 333 students per campus were asked 80 questions about a range of subjects in the last three school years.
When asked why Playboy’s list is better than the Princeton Review’s, the magazine’s Editorial Director Jimmy Jellinek told MailOnline: ‘Playboy is the ultimate authority on nightlife. And when it comes to partying we are second to none.
‘Our College Party School rankings come out of this deep reservoir of knowledge and the public can be confident when we say a particular school gets down, we mean it.’

Mezzanine is the third studio album by English trip hop group Massive Attack, released on 20 April 1998 by Virgin Records. It was produced by Neil Davidge along with the group.
The entire album was provided on their website for legal download many months before the physical release was announced. It was one of the first major uses of the MP3 format by a commercial organisation.
The album is the band’s most commercially successful to date. Upon release it went to the number one spot in the UK, Australian, Irish and New Zealand album charts.
