If you’re looking for fun, try Bubba Gumps in Times Square.
But I’m not too sure about a romantic place, what are you looking for?

The Four Seasons. It’s relaxed enough to enjoy comfortable conversation and exclusive enough that you’ll need reservations. And DO dress for the occassion…

Craftsteak. Really amazing food. Not just the steak, but the sides. Actually I think the sides might even be better than some of the steak, and the steak is really good. Also the place is romantic with a nice atmosphere and very good service. Craftsteak is in the Meatpacking district and there are a lot of cool clubs that you would be able to go to after dinner that are close by. Two other good restaurants in the area are Morimoto and Buddakan. Outside of the West Chelsea area I would recommend Daniel. It is very famous and you would definitely need to make reservations, but always great food and service and atmosphere. It is also probably one of the most expensive restaurants in the city, so you might take that into consideration. Actually there are many different restaurants in the city that are quite amazing. I would suggest picking up a Zagat’s and looking through it. Would be worth owning as well if you live in the city because it does a pretty decent job reviewing almost every restaurant in the city.
