dating scammer ghana- acra need your opinion whether its fake or real?

Question by jasondenvor: dating scammer ghana- acra need your opinion whether its fake or real?
Hi
I just met a girl been one week from a site called wayn.com. we chat almost everyday. She said that she was born in manchester uk. her father was british and mother from ghana. she recently went to ghana been like 7 months because due to death of her father. His father and mother are seperated and her mother lived in ghana. So she had to go back to ghana.so after chatting with her for couple of days, i just wanted to make sure that she was lying or it was a scam. so i asked her to show me her british passport. She said that her passport was not with her. She gave it to her mother to hold on to it when she came to ghana.
The next day she email me a photo of her holding a british passport. In the passport the birth place was written wrongly. Corydon Intead of Croydon. when i did ask why there was a mistake in your passport she replied that she never noticed it before even though she travel with this passport to Ghana. The photo in the passport was herself because i have seen her on web cam two times. She has even sent me picture of her friends. she also claimed to be seeking a serious relationship otherwise she wouldn’t chat with me everyday. She even text me everyday. she mentioned that she want to come to me and live with me. I said that she could go back to Manchester and then i will meet her there and she agreed. I Also told her that i don’t have any money. am very poor and she understand it.

Can anyone help me whether she is real or not. I don’t understand what to do.

She’s fake, no government issues a passport with the wrong town name on it.
Go meet real girls, this one will try and talk you into taking a loan or borrowing money to send her, then disappear.
Seriously, man, get some self-esteem and a life. OFFline.

It’s fake – these scams are so common that Ghana is one of the only countries in the world where the US Embassy has a whole page on their website specifically devoted to dating scams out of that country
    http://ghana.usembassy.gov/romance_scam.html

The UK government would NEVER misspell the name of a town, especially not Croydon which is where the Border Agency that handles UK immigration has its head office

Stop chatting with her – tell her you are sorry but don’t want to get involved in anything long distance and to not contact you until she is back in Manchester and you can meet in person.

I can guarantee if you keep chatting she will claim she is coming to visit, then she will have some emergency and need money. She might claim she needs to pay a travel allowance or declaration fee to leave Ghana (complete BS), she might claim she was on her way to the airport and got into an accident and needs money for medical treatment, she might claim her mother had a heart attack and needs money for treatment, she might claim she was robbed and needs to borrow money to buy a new plane ticket (BS as you don’t buy a new plane ticket if you lose it, you just print off a new one or go to the airport as everything is e-tickets anyway)

There is NO woman in the world who would EVER tell a man that she has only known for a week and has NEVER met in person that she wants to live with him. That’s the sign of a scam – they move WAY too fast. Think about it – if you met a girl in your home town and were dating her in person for a week and she told you she wanted to move in with you, you’d assume she was completely crazy and a stalker and dump her immediately. The fact someone who has never met you says she wants to move in with you is NEVER going to be legit

Your suspicions are ABSOLUTELY right. Anyone asking for money on online dating sites who is from Ghana (or any other country) should not be trusted. Contact WAYN.com dating site and report her immediately.

Also, ask WAYN to check out Scamalytics.com – Every dating site should be using systems like these to catch scammers before scammers annoy and steal from their dating sites.

    100% scam.

There is no Ghanian beauty desperate to toss her life aside and fly to be your wife. The story of being born in the UK and moving when young is typical scammer story and is suppose to explain why her English is so terrible. A dead parent and being an only child is also typical scammer story. She is not going to marry anyone and is not interested in anything but your cash.

There is only a scammer trying to steal your hard-earned money with fake stories of daddy’s death, mother’s illness, sister’s baby and needing money for internet, rent, food, fees, travel expenses, plane tickets, passport renew costs, medical exam, whatever excuses she makes up.

The next email will be from one of the scammer’s fake names and free email addresses and will demand you rescue her from her desperate situations, again and again, and only in cash, and only by Western Union or moneygram.

Western Union and moneygram do not verify anything on the form the sender fills out, not the name, not the street address, not the country, not even the gender of the receiver, it all means absolutely nothing. The clerk will not bother to check ID and will simply hand off your cash to whomever walks in the door with the MTCN# and question/answer. Neither company will tell the sender who picked up the cash, at what store location or even in what country your money walked out the door. Neither company has any kind of refund policy, money sent is money gone forever.

Now that you have responded to a scammer, you are on his ‘potential sucker’ list, he will try again to separate you from your cash. He will send you more emails from his other free email addresses using another of his fake names with all kinds of stories of great jobs, lottery winnings, millions in the bank and desperate, lonely, sexy singles. He will sell your email address to all his scamming buddies who will also send you dozens of fake emails all with the exact same goal, you sending them your cash via Western Union or moneygram.

You could post up the email address and the emails themselves that the scammer is using, it will help make your post more googlable for other suspicious potential victims to find when looking for information.

Do you know how to check the header of a received email? If not, you could google for information. Being able to read the header to determine the geographic location an email originated from will help you weed out the most obvious scams and scammers. Then delete and block that scammer. Don’t bother to tell him that you know he is a scammer, it isn’t worth your effort. He has one job in life, convincing victims to send him their hard-earned cash.

Whenever suspicious or just plain curious, google everything, website addresses, names used, companies mentioned, phone numbers given, all email addresses, even partial sentences from the emails as you might be unpleasantly surprised at what you find already posted online. You can also post/ask here and every scam-warner-anti-fraud-busting site you can find before taking a chance and losing money to a scammer.

If you google “fake Ghana dating scam”, “fraud Western Union love scam”, “Russian romance scam”, “webcam girl scam” or something similar you will find hundreds of posts from victims and near-victims of this type of scam.
