What are some unique ways to make the bride and groom kiss during the wedding?

Question by polkaqueen: What are some unique ways to make the bride and groom kiss during the wedding?
I don’t want to do the traditional clinking of the glasses to make the bride and groom kiss, and I have seen singing a song with love, or having another couple kiss before the bride and groom do, but does anybody have any other suggestions?

I saw little bells that were cute! There’s a cute saying attached to them. Plus, they’re only $ 4.99 for 50 of them!

How about you guys kiss whenever you want and not let your guests dictate it at all?

I’ve never heard of this and it sounds completely silly and uncessary. Sorry.

You could always try the spaghetti trick like the Lady and the Tramp movie. I saw that at a wedding once and it was awesome.

If it is your wedding, congrats!!! If you are attending a wedding, have fun and drink up :) !

I seen some that do the singing, while others with a donation to a charity. Other possibilities are stories about the couple.

my fave is putting a nice glass vase on the head table in front of the bride and groom. if anyone wants them to kiss then they have to put a buck or two into the vase! all monies collected go to the bride/groom’s fave charity! little cards are put at each table explaining and everyone loves it. most weddings we’ve attended have collected over three hundred dollars for their charity!

I’m assuming you mean during the reception?
Why would anyone have to MAKE them kiss?

This is quite foreign to me.

I went to a wedding reception where the bride and groom were very shy. To deter their guests from clinking their glasses and making them kiss every 2 minutes, which I’m sure has got to be annoying after a while, they did a little trivia game. The groomsmen and bridesmaids all did up questions about the bride and groom that were kind of obscure. Questions like “What is their love song?” and “Where did they meet?” or “What is John’s pet name for Jill?” were used. You can be as creative or wacky as you like!

They wrote out the questions, put them in a pretty crystal dish that matched the tableware, and put it on the podium where speeches were done. When a guest wanted them to kiss, they had to go to the microphone, answer a question and get it right.

Sometimes, if the person asking was a child, or a grandparent or something, they’d kiss even if the guest got it wrong. It was very cute, very engaging and fun, it also kept those darn glasses from *CLINK CLINK CLINKING* alllllll night.

Ewww, here’s my suggestion: don’t!! They just got married, for Pete’s sake- if they already need to be forced to kiss in some cutesy way, what’s their sex life going to be like in 5 years? If they want to kiss, they’ll kiss- I never understood why people felt they had to make newlyweds perform like trained seals at their reception with ringing “kissing bells,” clinking glasses, etc. If you must turn it into a game, how about turning the tables and making the guests take a shot every time the bride and groom kiss? That sounds like a LOT more fun for the guests!

You’re the bride and groom, not puppets. Your friends and family are there to celebrate with you, not control your behaviour. A silly custom that deserves being relegated to the dark ages.
