Book Review by Jack Falt. Kalil, Carolyn, Follow Your True Colors to the work you love: The popular method for adapting your personality, your career Book Partners, Inc., Wilsonville, 1998, 200 p

far as I know, this is the first published book based on Don Lowry True Colors? Personality system. And Carolyn Kalil book is excellent to yourself. Using this system An added bonus is that the book four tickets temperament and ranking system used word clusters to determine true colors each contains. The score produced a hierarchy of colors for each person in the strongest to the weakest color. (The color is lower than the lower MBTI function.)

The developers of True Colors was Don Lowry, an entrepreneur, and a student of David Keirsey. He used four Keirsey temperaments as the basis for True Colors system. With four colored maps depicting clowns who perform activities in terms of color, Lowry has a system that can be used with all ages of children from kindergarten to the leadership of the multinational. The four colors are: Orange – Recording Perceiving gold – Sensing Judging Blue – Intuition and green – intuitive thinking. The book Kalil is written in a very personal style, with lots of anecdotal material. She describes her own life and how his first workshop with True Colors Lowry was very useful for understanding and improving self esteem. As an educator, she has used the system and uses this intense experience. Basis for his book Kalil concept of career education based on the theory that you do not know what you do until you know who you are going basis. It describes each of the four colors in separate chapters, looking at the ground color, personality, goals and ideals, and as men, women and children have this color. Another feature is the way in which each color when you are traveling from home (or what MBTI calls being-in-the-grip). According to the description of the four colors, Kalil then this applies to the world of work. It focuses on the basic needs of every color and describes the way to best meet these requirements. It also deals with the values, natural gifts and talents, and the choice of the most suitable occupation for each color. It invites the reader to tie everything together in a mission statement and an exercise to help you. These occupations are only suggestions, and it does not mean that anyone in any way. know how our training can have a negative impact, Kalil has a chapter on confrontation with the past and to be aware of our negative programming. It includes an exercise on how to rewrite the script of life. In addition, the book concludes with a chapter on the harmonization of the four colors in our world. Each of the four colors has to play a useful role. I have found the book to read a good book, and felt it would be useful to the end of secondary school age to adulthood, and I wish I had for my 11th Year personal development and career planning courses when I was teaching. People ignore MBTI temperament or find easy to understand and will probably find that it it gives a boost to their self-esteem. No matter what stage of life you are, this book could be a revelation in your career search. For some, it can give them the courage to make the necessary changes in their lives, and others, help to explain why they chose the career they did. Jack Falt (INFJ and green) is a retired guidance counselor. It is made in both True Colors and MBTI. He leads a group called Standing appreciate the differences, such as the type and temperament are explored in all aspects of life. Thanks . Your book has really changed my life. Family and friends have always said, “You think a lot,” “do not analyze me” and “you have difficulties in touch with your feelings.” I’ve always been a perfectionist at work and I was hard for me. I have what I do and I love to learn a challenge. Once I was able to recognize my true colors, I could understand me!

When I read Chapter 6 on Green Personality – Knowledge is power, I saw myself. My true color. What I represent in the actual writing. Helped to understand that I was reading this chapter. Something I often wonder. I must accept that I am green to accept myself fully and deeply. I recognize my strengths and weaknesses.

I see how my weaknessness caused problems in my work, family and relationships. I have to work on those weaknesses for inner peace. Your book helped me realize a lot about myself. Your book gives me the direction to explore my life and see what I’m missing. I realize that I was missing a lot. I have always been difficult for me. I push and push me. Everything I do has to be perfect …. I’m so quick to judge the things around me that can not be perfect. I was not aware that I am proud of my 30 years is not perfect and was an answer to every question. Sometimes in life there ar no answers. I searched my inner soul and I realize that I have to change, need to be truly happy. I realize that I left my self-criticism hurt me. Thanks Carolyn Kalil come into my life. Your book has me see where I need to go to the place where I am. I thank you with all my heart.

The Magic of Follow your true colors in the Career Planning 3 June 2001

This review is from: Follow your true colors to the work you love (Paperback)

My most recent class schedule academic career was responsible for purchasing the book on your true colors of the work that you love and the workbook. The students were given weekly reading assignments of work duties. During the lessons they have conducted individual and group exercises from the workbook. The book provides a framework for understanding the process of career planning on a true color personality profile of an individual. The workbook was an opportunity for students to apply the principles learned from reading the book. Together, the two books complement each other well and have increased the understanding and application of concepts students.

In the course of several students approached me independently and commented on how much they enjoyed the readings and exercises they have been assigned. Some people feel that the author is speaking directly to them and their circumstances. Other students were surprised by the uncanny ability of the author to identify their personality traits and characteristics.

However, I had no idea until I read the final presented by students at the end of the class, as it is universal, these two books that people have touched. Even students who were initially skeptical about the usefulness of this class and its approach to career planning were very pleased with the knowledge and information they had learned about themselves satisfied. Overall, the students have strong reading and using these exercises for self-discovery and understanding in the book and notebook Follow benefited present your true colors to the work you love. These two books will be definitely required reading for my future students!
